Just Ask
James 4:2b says, "You do not have, because you do not ask God" (NIV). If you want to be blessed by God, meaning to have the supernatural favor of God on your life, you've got to, like Jabez in I Chronicles 4:9-10, "go for the ask." Don't misunderstand this powerful resource of prayer in the life of every Christ-follower. God answered Jabez's prayer, first of all, because Jabez asked.

Ask For Blessing
Jabez prayed (I Chronicles 4:9-10) that God would first, bless him, second, expand his territory, and then third, that Gods hand would be upon him. Why in that order? The hand of God represents the presence, power, and protection of God. Jabez knew that, when he asked for Gods blessing and for expanded influence, he would also need the continuing hand of God in his life in order to handle all that God would give him. Ed presents a powerful principle from Jabez simple prayerthe more God gives us the more we need Him.
