- FAMILY – TO COMFORT AND BE COMFORTED

- Family: Comforted by someone and you get uncomfortable for someone
- Today’s final words were all about family
- Jesus wasn’t the only one suffering at the cross
- In the midst of Jesus’s greatest suffering he saw those he loved suffering and he met their needs. And here is what he said:
“‘Woman, here is your son,’
and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’”
(John 19:26-27)

- WHY WAS JESUS GIVING THEM FAMILY?
- Different type of comfort and perspective
“From that time on, this disciple
took her into his home.” (John 19:27)
- FROM THAT TIME ON = THE CHURCH
- From that time…THE CHURCH.
- Not a building, it’s a family.
- 20 Years in the family
- I’ve seen people like Mary find comfort
- I’ve seen people like John find comfort
- THE LONER-EXCUSES
- “Ah I don’t need church to be close to God.”

- COMFORTED TO GET UNCOMFORTABLE
- Family is about being comforted by Christ and getting uncomfortable for Christ
